Life of a Traveler Part 1

Williamsburg VA.

August 2015

As many of you know, I have been spending the last month and a half on the road. I know… It seems luxurious to travel the word and see new things. To some extent it is and on the other hand it makes you appreciate what you have back at home just that much more. My plan is to blog each location & experience over the course of a month, including photos and even a how to pack for carry on video.

So, our adventure started in the hot August heat in Los Angeles where we boarded a plane for Washington DC, not for fun but for work. We were blessed to shoot Cate & Neal’s wedding (video) in North Carolina and since we were coming so far we decided to stay a few extra days. Somehow we were able to squeeze a few sights into our already hectic schedule.

As soon as we got off the plane and got our rental car, we headed to Williamsburg VA. home of at least 1 Million pancake houses and the largest Yankee Candle store I have ever seen. This colonial city played a huge part in american history and the revolution so we had to check it out. You start at the tourist center, walk inside and follow the path to Colonial Williamsburg. Now, here is the thing… If you search the web you will find that you buy tickets to see the historic area. This is not exactly true. You do not need to buy their crazy over priced tickets because the area is public space. Getting the ticket just allows you entry into some of the buildings. Without the ticket you can still wander around, enter some of the buildings, check out the gardens and see the people in historical costume wandering around the streets and in front of the buildings. In my opinion, don’t buy the ticket.

Now, back to the path… Once outside the visitor center you will be on a pedestrian bridge. It was so cool! Along the path there were dates with something that happened at that time. It was set up so that walking away from the building you were “going back in time” and going towards the building you were coming back to present day.
