Life of a Traveler : Linderhof Palace Germany

Life of a Traveler

Linderhof Palace Germany

Yesterday I showed you the first part of our circle tour. We started at our hotel room in Garmisch and headed north/west to Ettal Abbey. We had a lot of fun looking around for a while and then got back in our car, excited about our next stop : Linderhof Palace. This was one of the places that we had never been before. Linderhof Palace was built by King Lugwig II along with the very famous Neuschwanstein castle and less know Herrenchiemsee (which is in a different area completely and was designed after Versailles in France). We had already seen Neuschwanstein castle twice but really wanted to see Linderhof Palace.

It didn’t disappoint! As we walked from the car to the ticket building we passed some really cute houses and a restaurant. Once we got there we decided that we weren’t really that interested in going into the building and because we still had a lot to do that day, we wanted to keep it fairly quick. All in all, I think we were there for at least 2 hours just wandering the property (for free since we didn’t go inside!) and it was amazing. There were statues everywhere; fountains; gardens and more! This was a definite win in my book… Check it out!!

I’m not sure who’s dog that was but he was everywhere. I didn’t mind though, because he was so cute!

After a nice realizing walk around Linderhof Palace, and eating at the little restaurant near the parking lot, we were ready to move on. It was already past 1 pm and we still had 3/4 of the trip to get to. We jumped back into the car and headed back around to Fussen, passing the most beautiful blue lake as we drove. We wanted to just walk though the little shopping area of Fussen(which was adorable) and we found a store that my parents were familiar with (Woolworth’s) that had fun & inexpensive things. Nick got a new set of PJ’s and I got a water – lol.

As we took off from Fussen, we passed Neuchwanstien Castle up on the hill and waved as we passed it, on our way to Weiskurch (Weis Church) which is a well know church in the area. It is known for its Rococo style building and lavish decorations. It was actually really neat to see it again. For my parents, it was a new treat but for Nick and I, it was a good memory of a previous trip. This time was different though. We got to see all the animals that weren’t there before and we got to watch as the local farmers brought their cows in from the pastures. A total bavarian experience!

Thanks for coming by the blog and don’t forget to come back another time for the next part of our trip – the black forest!

Until next time – XOXO
