Malibu El Matador Beach Engagement

I am so excited for Kelly & Tim’s upcoming wedding and when they decided to do a Malibu El Matador Beach Engagement Session I was really excited. Tim is a football coach so they wanted to include that in their photos. They snagged some jerseys that included their wedding date (6-5-15) and a football and it was a lot of fun! We started off at the school where Tim coaches – Palisades High . Kelly and Tim tossed around the ball a bit and Kelly ended up playing hard to get but somehow Tim was always a little bit faster and managed to tackle her anyhow.

After playing a little Pali football, Kelly and Tim changed out of their jerseys and we headed to El Matador beach. We were running behind and didn’t have much sun left so we rushed down to the beach. It was a sketchy walk to get from the parking lot to the bottom where the beach was (we weren’t expecting that) and once our toes hit the sand we realized that we were not alone…. Not even close! There were people everywhere! Not just beach-goers but other photographers as well. With the light running low we had to throw some elbows and wiggle our way in there. To say that we took those photos fast would be an understatement. There was one more outfit that Kelly wanted to photograph so we had to hightail it back up the mountain, swap outfits and figure out a plan because the light at that point was minimal.

We decided that we didn’t want to walk all the way back down the hill so we stayed up top and and finished off the evening with some flash/strobe photography so that we could get the beautiful sunset. All in all it was a wonderful day and I had a really great time with the two of them! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life and I can’t wait for the wedding!
