Life of a Traveler : Bavaria Germany

Life of a Traveler

Bavaria Germany

Happy Tuesday everyone! It’s time for the next part of our trip. Bavaria Germany. It is absolutely crazy to think that this trip happened back in September and I am still posting the Germany portion of the trip! In total we visited 4 countries : Germany, Switzerland, France and England. So… Let’s get to it!

The last post had us on the Rhine River staying in Bacharach. We were in Bacharach for about a week before heading to one of my favorite areas, Bavaria! This would be our 3rd time to the same general location, once with just Nick and I and once before with my Mom and Dad, Aunt and my Cousin. The last time we were there, we only had 2 days and our main goal was to see Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau castle. It rained (and hailed) the entire two days and we were unable to see much of the area. My parents really wanted to return to Fussen but since Nick and I had been there twice before, we opted to stay in the nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen instead. This way we could see some place we have never been before.

We left our home on the Rhine and headed for the south. On the way we stopped for lunch at Heidelberg. I really liked it there and when we return to Germany, I plan on staying the night there to explore the castle and the surrounding area more! I didn’t carry my camera into town but I did capture a few shots with my cell phone.

After a little bit of shopping and some lunch we continued the remaining distance to our new home: Hotel Edelweiss Garni. The  hotel was in a great area, was very clean and had a great breakfast. We had 2 bedrooms that were connected with an additional sitting area. On top of all that, just check out the view from our bedroom window!!

We did have a good laugh about the hall bathroom. We never used it because we had one in our room but it was extremely tiny! Just down the street was a great place to eat too. It was called Restaurant Husar and it was delicious!

The next day we took off for what we called the “Circle Tour” which was a 2.5 hour loop stopping at some AH-MAZING places. This had to be one of my favorite days in Germany. The weather was a little warmer and we saw some beautiful places that were completely new to us: Ettal Abbey & Linderhof Palace.

I know this post is getting a little long so take a peek at our Ettal Abbey Photos and I will post the remaining part of our circle tour tomorrow!

After leaving the Abbey, it wasn’t far to Linderhof Palace but because I took so many images, I will save that for tomorrow. Here is a little teaser to tempt you back for the next post.
